Naarm/Melbourne-based surf-punk quartet Going Swimming have just returned from hiatus with their chaotic new single 'All Dressed Up To Cry' – produced by the band and mixed by Rohan Sforcina (Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Adalita).
'All Dressed Up To Cry' is a frenetic cut of blistering indie-punk led by the growling vocals of lead singer Nicholas Leggatt. The track's choruses erupt with chunking, distorted guitars before providing an eerie reprieve through the bridge's haunting, reverb-laced solo. Shouting backing vocals add to the furious finale, creating a fitting end to a blazing punk exemplar.
lyrics
It's late, but there's nothing getting me excited
I have friends that I want to get high with
My heart's becoming divided
I'm all dressed up to cry
I'm running out of hope this time
Telling everyone that I'll be fine
I promise not to talk about this time
I've got my hands in my pockets
I made the call, but I fell short
I don't how to unlock it, should I stop pretending?
Black coat, the same one that I would always wear
When I use to run a comb through my hair
Those days when everyone seemed to care
I'm all dressed up to cry
I'm running out of hope this time
Telling all everyone that I'll be fine
I promise not to talk about this time
I've got my hands in my pockets
I made the call, but I fell short
I don't how to unlock it, should I stop pretending?
I've got my hand in my pockets
I made the call, but I fell short
Incoming call, should I block it?
I sense the ending
